A winter storm warning has been issued for parts of the Hill Country and the Interstate 35 corridor, including Austin, the National Weather Service said Thursday. An slow-moving arctic front brought rain on Saturday and below freezing temperatures to Austin which will last until Tuesday.

The winter storm that moved across the country Saturday nearly halted air travel Saturday night into Sunday, with cancellations at Austin's AUS more common by the hour.

"We live in Texas. We are preparing for the worst because we never completely know what the weather's gonna do in Texas," Travis County Judge Andy Brown said.

With icy condition expected to continue through Monday morning, some Austin area schools and colleges cancel classes.
