A mix of freezing rain and sleet will bring slick roads and the risk of power outages this weekend. FIRST ALERT WEATHER DAYS remain in place for Saturday and Sunday.
A cold weather advisory is in effect until 9am Saturday for the stateline for wind chills as low as -25 to -30 below zero. Skies will stay mostly cloudy at times, with daytime highs climbing into the single digits during the day.
Quiet weather remains in place as you are heading out the door on this Friday morning, but there are a few areas of patchy fog to start.
The snow will be slow to fall and slow to accumulate as it fights through the dry air and tries to reach the ground. A light powder is expected and this type of snow will pack to the roads if driven over multiple times. Watch for slick spots all day Saturday, especially south of I-80. Snow chances are are likely to persist into the afternoon too.
