AL MAZROWIAH, Bahrain -- Patrick Reed decided to extend his Middle East stay and then salvaged a 1-under 71 in the Bahrain Championship, where Alejandro Del Rey and Freddy Schott shared the lead at 65 when the first round was halted by darkness on Thursday.

Reed, a nine-time winner on Tour and 2018 Masters champion, announced Wednesday that he will compete full-time on the DP World Tour this season before rejoining the PGA Tour as a past champion in 2027.

His stunning decision, just three days after he won the Dubai Desert Classic, comes the same week that five-time major champion Brooks Koepka returns to the PGA Tour at Torrey Pines.
