An “intense” band of lake effect snow was falling across the Chicago area late Friday morning, with a new winter storm issued for parts of Cook County and the National Weather Service warning of low visibility and “locally dangerous travel” as bursts of snow continue.
ATLANTA — Accumulating snow arrives overnight and Saturday morning at the beginning of a prolonged cold snap to the region, during which much of north Georgia will spend 60+ hours at or below freezing.
The winter storm is brewing along the United States' Southeast coast. The storm is expected to inundate North Carolina with "heavy" snow, according to the National Weather Service prediction center. The storm also would impact the Mid-Atlantic and New England if it stays on that track.
