Reading Mixtec Writing: Tonindeye AKA Nuttall Codex
We read a Mixtec book, called the Nuttall Codex in English, or Tonindeye in Mixtec. The book is one of few surviving preconquest books in the Americas, and dates to around 1200-1500s, containing historical information in the Mixtec region from the 900s-1100s. Today Mixtec is spoken in southern Puebla, eastern Guerrero and western Oaxaca.
